IS THERE A MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT/DO I NEED A DEPOSIT? Yes, the person assuming the responsibility for any rental (signing the agreement) must be 18 years old or older, and all rentals require a deposit of some kind. Non-motorized rentals require a driver’s license or valid photo ID. Motorized rentals (boats/wave runners) require a driver’s license or valid photo ID along with a major credit card with at least a minimum of $500 available credit per piece of equipment. The 24-ft Jet Boat requires a $1,000 deposit on a major credit card.
WHAT ARE THE ADDITIONAL AGE REQUIREMENTS? Nobody under the age of 21 is permitted to drive our boats. Ages 16-18 with a valid drivers license may drive the wave runners with a parent signing their waiver. Any age can be a passenger with an adult driving. Regardless of age, only people that have completed the paperwork and checkout process can drive.
WHEN DOES MY RENTAL TIME BEGIN? Your rental may begin when when you leave the dock or it may begin at your reservation time. For non-motorized, walk up rentals your time will begin when you depart. For motorized rentals, we ask that you arrive at our office least 30-minutes prior to your reservation so that you can complete the waivers and the checkout process. If every person that is driving arrives at our office 30-minutes prior to your reservation and you depart the dock after your reservation time because of a hold up on our end or if you depart prior to your rental time, your time begins when you leave the dock. If you leave the dock late because you did not arrive 30-minutes ahead of your reservation or because your group is delayed then your rental time begins at your reservation time. We will always try and be as flexible as we can, however, in peak summer months when we are sold out we don't have a lot of flexibility. If you would like additional time to review the operation on the equipment please feel free to arrive as early as you would like, we are happy to spend the time you feel you need to insure you are comfortable operating the equipment.
WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY? If your reservation was booked online, you may cancel without penalty up to 48 hours prior to your reservation. If you cancel within 48 hours, are unable to meet the security deposit requirement or do not show up, you will pay a $20 cancellation fee for non-motorized equipment, and 100% of the rental cost for boat and wave runner rentals. To cancel an online reservation, please call the location where your rental is booked or email [email protected]. There will be no refunds for any cancellations if booked at our office.
WHAT ARE THE ALL-DAY WAVE RUNNER (JET SKI) SPECIALS? We offer an “all-day” rate (M-F, 10 am-4 pm). Arrive at 10 am to begin the checkout process. (If you arrive later than 10 am, you’re still due back by 4 pm.) The rental rate does not include the cost of fuel. The wave runner comes with a full tank of gas, but not a free tank of gas. We will keep track of the amount of gas you use via the fuel gauge. At the end of your rental, you will pay $7/gal for the gas you used. The average cost is around $60, but we have seen it range from $20- $120. We often sell out of the all day specials.
WHERE CAN MY GROUP HANG OUT TO SWITCH DRIVERS FOR WAVE RUNNER RENTALS? If you rent from our Dana Hotel location on Mission Bay, we suggest having your group go to Ski Beach which is a short drive over the Ingraham Street bridge from our location. Please have the person that is assuming liability for the wave runner and all drivers come to our office for our check out process, then meet the group on the beach. If you rent from our Campland on the Bay location you may utilize their beach with a maximum of four drivers per wave runner. Also, please pay close attention to our information on how to safely pull the wave runner up on the beach without sucking a rock into the intake.
SOMETHING HAPPENED TO THE BOAT! Unfortunately, sometimes boats and wave runners run into mechanical problems. We pride ourselves on having new equipment and keeping it in great condition, but, like all things with a motor, they can break. If the problem is on our end, we will do everything in our power to accommodate you, and we appreciate your understanding and flexibility.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I DAMAGE A BOAT OR WAVE RUNNER? Renters are 100% responsible for the cost of any and all damage that occurs during their rental. This includes if you are hit by another vessel, you hit a vessel, run aground, capsize the vessel and cause damage, or if a rock or another object gets sucked up into the intake.
DO I NEED A CALIFORNIA BOATER CARD? Not if you rent from us and complete our check out process where we inform you of the rules and regulations on Mission Bay.
DO THE BOATS HAVE RADIOS? If music onboard is a top priority for you it is best to bring your own independent speaker to hook up to your own Bluetooth.
CAN I HAVE FOOD AND DRINKS ON THE BOAT? Absolutely! Please feel free to enjoy food and beverages, you may also bring alcohol however the driver may not drink alcohol whatsoever. The exception is if the same group also rents wave runners, in that instance, alcohol is not permitted on the boat. We ask that you remove the excess trash when you leave or you may be charged a cleaning fee. Please, no sunflower seeds.
WHO DRIVES THE BOAT? Someone from your group is responsible for driving the boat. We will provide them with the rules of the bay and instruction on how to drive the boat. If you would like to hire an outside Captain, you may do so. The renter is still responsible for any damage. Customers have used Captain Max (775) 544-3310 and https://www.captaindonmarine.com in the past. However, Adventure Water Sports is not affiliated with the Captains in any way.
CAN WE RENT A BOAT AND WAVE RUNNERS AT THE SAME TIME? We don't recommend it. If you have a group that is trading out on the boat and wave runners, you can not pull the wave runners up to the boat to make that switch. Also, if a single group rents both types of equipment, alcohol is not permitted on the boat.
WHY IS THERE A BOOKING FEE? We utilized an online booking service. The fee is charged by them and paid directly to them. Adventure Water Sports does not make any income on the booking fee.
