Frequently Asked Questions:

HOW DO I MAKE A RESERVATION? We are excited to launch our new online booking system! We have three Mission Bay locations, so make sure you're booking and picking up your rental at the right place. If you prefer not to book online, you may book in person at any location. When booked online, the person who paid for the reservation must be present at check out, they must bring the card used to pay for the rental AND a government issued ID. NO EXCEPTIONS. Note: we do not accept online reservations for stand-up paddle boards at our Campland location, in person rentals only.
WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED? We have three locations on Mission Bay, about 10-minutes north of downtown San Diego, 10-minutes south of La Jolla and minutes from Pacific Beach. We are on site at The Dana Hotel - 1710 West Mission Bay Drive, on site at Campland on the Bay - 2211 Pacific Beach Drive and at DeAnza Cove on site at Mission Bay RV Resort - 2727 DeAnza Road (weekends only through summer)..
WHERE DO I PARK? There is onsite parking at both The Dana Hotel and Campland on the Bay. Be aware that on holiday weekends, however, both sites may not have available onsite parking, so plan accordingly. Parking at the Dana Hotel: The main lot near the lobby is reserved for hotel guests only. Just southeast of the main entrance on Dana Landing Rd., please enter the smaller lot with the “Dana Hotel Permit Only” parking sign. A green parking gate leads to the center of the hotel. Go right toward the marina. We are located between docks C and D at the marina. Parking at Campland on the Bay: During summer, the rangers at the Campland on the Bay gate will charge $20 cash to park onsite. After you complete your rental with Adventure Water Sports, please ask our attendant to give you a voucher, and the rangers will refund your $20. Please give yourself ample time to park. Parking at DeAnza Cove - you may park on site at the Mission Bay RV Resort behind our rental office.
IS THERE A MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT/DO I NEED A DEPOSIT? Yes, the person assuming the responsibility for any rental (signing the agreement) must be 18 years old or older, and all rentals require a deposit of some kind. Non-motorized rentals also require a driver’s license or valid photo ID. Motorized rentals (boats/waverunners) require a driver’s license or valid photo ID along with a major credit card with at least a minimum of $500 available credit. The 24-ft Jet Boat requires a $1,000 deposit on a major credit card.
WHAT ARE THE ADDITIONAL AGE REQUIREMENTS? Nobody under the age of 18 is permitted to drive our boats. Ages 16-18 with a valid drivers license may drive the waverunners with a parent signing their waiver. Any age can be a passenger with an adult driving. Regardless of age, only people that have completed the paperwork and checkout process can drive.
WHEN DOES MY RENTAL TIME BEGIN? Your rental may begin when when you leave the dock or it may begin at your reservation time. For non-motorized, walk up rentals your time will begin when you depart. For motorized rentals, we ask that you arrive at our office least 30-minutes prior to your reservation so that you can complete the waivers and the checkout process. If every person that is driving arrives at our office 30-minutes prior to your reservation and you depart the dock after your reservation time because of a hold up on our end, your time begins when you leave the dock. If you leave the dock late because you did not arrive 30-minutes ahead of your reservation or because your group is delayed then your rental time begins at your reservation time. We will always try and be as flexible as we can, however, in peak summer months when we are sold out we don't have a lot of flexibility. If you would like additional time to review the operation on the equipment please feel free to arrive as early as you would like, we are happy to spend the time you feel you need to insure you are comfortable operating the equipment.
WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY? If your reservation was booked online, you may cancel without penalty up to 48 hours prior to your reservation. If you cancel within 48 hours or do not show up, you will pay a $20 cancellation fee for non-motorized equipment, and 50% of the rental cost for boat and wave runner rentals. To cancel an online reservation, please call the location where your rental is booked. There will be no refunds for any cancellations if booked at our office.
WHAT ARE THE ALL-DAY WAVE RUNNER (JET SKI) SPECIALS? We offer an “all-day” rate (M-F, 10 am-4 pm). Arrive at 10 am to begin the checkout process. (If you arrive later than 10 am, you’re still due back by 4 pm.) The rental rate does not include the cost of fuel. The wave runner comes with a full tank of gas, but not a free tank of gas. We will keep track of the amount of gas you use via the fuel gauge. At the end of your rental, you will pay $5/gal for the gas you used. The average cost is around $65, but we have seen it range from $20- $120.
WHERE CAN MY GROUP HANG OUT TO SWITCH DRIVERS FOR WAVE RUNNER RENTALS? If you rent from our Dana Hotel location on Mission Bay, we suggest having your group go to Ski Beach which is a short drive over the Ingraham Street bridge from our location. Please have the person that is assuming liability for the wave runner and all drivers come to our office for our check out process, then meet the group on the beach. If you rent from our Campland on the Bay location you may utilize their beach with a maximum of four drivers per wave runner. Also, please pay close attention to our information on how to safely pull the wave runner up on the beach without sucking a rock into the intake.
SOMETHING HAPPENED TO THE BOAT! Unfortunately, sometimes boats and waverunners run into mechanical problems. We pride ourselves on having new equipment and keeping it in great condition, but, like all things with a motor, they can break. If the problem is on our end, we will do everything in our power to accommodate you, and we appreciate your understanding and flexibility.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I DAMAGE A BOAT OR WAVERUNNER? Renters are 100% responsible for the cost of any and all damage that occurs during their rental. This includes if you are hit by another vessel, you hit a vessel, you capsize the vessel and cause damage, or if a rock or another object gets sucked up into the intake.
